Thanks for checking out our blog and your interest in our lives and the ministry God has put before us in planting Element Church. Through this blog, Alaina and I will share our joys, struggles, successes, victories, failures, and thoughts as we journey with God in planting this new church.
Currently, we are praying and asking God to give us clarity on where, when, how, and with whom we will begin this new journey. I am the Family Ministries Pastor at Ken Caryl Church where I have worked since the end of 2007. We are set to continue our ministry here through 2012 as we develop our core and launch teams, recruit financial support, prepare for this long and difficult journey, find a meeting place, and help find and train my replacement at Ken Caryl Church.
This week alone, I have 6 different meeting with my church planting mentors and coaches, 4 meetings with potential core and launch team members, 2 meetings with our lost friends and neighbors we are trying to reach, am continually praying for a location to plant our church, and have scheduled our official Church Planting Assessment for the end of January. By the end of this month we hope to have:
- formal approval from the Southern Baptist Convention of Colorado to be sponsored "church planting missionaries"
- felt led by the Holy Spirit to a specific location/building or at least a very specific target area
- have recruited new team members and began discipling and training them
- share the gospel with several of our lost friends and neighbors whom we have already seen God at work in their lives
- have our official logo developed and finalized
- have website, twitter, and facebook up and running
- begin our communication to friends and family about this new journey of discovering our "Element"
